The Old Paint Is Coming Off The Front Forks

The old owner must at some point been under the impression that it was vital for the CB750 to have a thick layer of black metal flaked paint between the triple trees. Why? I don’t know why, but it is coming off that is for sure!

Some brake fluid did the trick with the old paint, and it came of like peels from a banana! The before and after picture tell it all really...

It is really saticfying to do a job where you can tell the difference when you are done. Now I just need to get the shock part of the fork buffed.

It is getting there...

Front Fork Is Off

Finally! The front forks are off the CB750... Without a motorcycle lift the job can be tricky!

The legs need some TLC, and it will be done by someone else! I hate buffing! One of the reasons why I build Café Racer and don’t drive chrome fruit cakes...

Next step is to get an extra brake caliper and disc for a dual disc brake conversion. NICE !!!

Hunter S. Thompson on Café Racers

There are some things nobody needs in this world, and a bright-red, hunch-back, warp-speed 900cc cafe racer is one of them - but I want one anyway, and on some days I actually believe I need one. That is why they are dangerous.
You have to be a little crazy to ride these super-torque high-speed crotch rockets anywhere except a racetrack - and even there, they will scare the whimpering shit out of you...
Cafe Racing is mainly a matter of taste. It is an atavistic mentality, a peculiar mix of low style, high speed, pure dumbness, and overweening commitment to the Cafe Life and all its dangerous pleasures... I am a Cafe Racer myself, on some days - and it is one of my finest addictions.
I bought a brand-new 650 BSA Lightning when it was billed as "the fastest motorcycle ever tested by Hot Rod magazine." I have ridden a 500-pound Vincent through traffic on the Ventura Freeway with burning oil on my legs and run the Kawa 750 Triple through Beverly Hills at night with a head full of acid... I have ridden with Sonny Barger and smoked weed in biker bars with Jack Nicholson, Grace Slick, Ron Zigler and my infamous old friend, Ken Kesey, a legendary Cafe Racer.
Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better. I've always believed this, in spite of the trouble it's caused me. Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba....
A fool couldn't ride the Vincent Black Shadow more than once, but a fool can ride a Ducati 900 many times, and it will always be a bloodcurdling kind of fun. That is the Curse of Speed which has plagued me all my life. I am a slave to it. On my tombstone they will carve, "IT NEVER GOT FAST ENOUGH FOR ME."

Joker Machines 1972 CB750

Joker Machines really did a good job presenting what is possible with a CNC Machine in this build. All of the really cool bits and pieces like the Trible trees with H-bar clamp, Steering stem nut, Side cover kit, Speedo cable plug, custom Clutch cover, and custom valve tapper covers are just some of the nice features that have been made for this bike. And all the parts can be acquired Joker Machines Webshop hip hip hurra [See link below].

But this CB750 is a bit like a spoiled kid right?! It has all the toys that you can’t afford!!!

The Joker Machine is a nice bike that I think you all should have a look at, but personally I think that it is a bit over the top... It has too much going on.

Joker Machines makes cool parts, they just have to be put together in a different way.

Ian Barry Quote on Electric Motorcycles

Electric motorcycles: Yes or No?

Yes, because to ignore electric motorcycles—purely because of an obsession with combustion powered ones—limits my imagination of what’s possible on two wheels. I love old bikes but they were once new, trying to out-perform the one before. When I bring an old bike skeleton back from the dead, I try to refine it with technology, forms, and materials that weren’t available when it was made… but at the end of the day, it’s still built within a framework of vintage elements. In the modern bike world, the ‘frame’ of mind is the present and the future, so if an electric engine is what ends up fueling (no pun) a superior-performing and interesting motorcycle, then who’s to say that it’s not part of the ‘perfect’ evolution of a modern bike?

Rear Fender Is Off

The nasty old rear fender is off, and after some surgery the CR750 race tail will be ready to be put on.

Honda Emblem and Headlight for Sale

The fully functional headlight (without the fucked up wiring) and Honda emblem + fixing plate is now for sale.

If you are interested please contact me at: sub2jazz@gmail.com

How many connectors are needed to make a headlight work?!?

Ok I figure it was not an electrician who did the wiring of this headlight! Removal of the headlight was like opening a can of worms! The wires were all tangled up like a ball of spaghetti, and how many connectors are actually needed to make a headlight work?!?

The old CB750 K7 wiring diagram will sure come handy...

Heat Wrap Is On

Just finished the heat wrap job, and I am very satisfied with the result. Even in the really narrow places I managed to do a decent job.

Heat wrap just makes old and bended pipes look so much nicer!

Toni Elías: 2010 Moto2 World Champion

With his result of fourth place at the Malaysian Grand Prix the Spaniard sealed the Moto2 World Championship title.

Growing up in the family bike shop in Manresa as the son of a ten-times Spanish motocross champion, Toni Elías was destined for a career on two wheels.

He started the year as one of the title favourites in the Moto2 class, and throughout the season his weath of experience and race-craft has shone through as he claimed seven wins, incuding four in a row over the summer period. The Spaniard became the first ever Moto2 World Champion at the age of 27.

Jorge Lorenzo: 2010 MotoGP World Champion

As expected a third place in the Malaysian Grand Prix secured the Fiat Yamaha rider his first ever premier class title.

Jorge Lorenzo is Spain's first MotoGP World Champion since Àlex Crivillé in 1999.

Having battled with team-mate Valentino Rossi and Honda's Andrea Dovizioso in the last knockings, the Mallorcan eventually elected to play it safe.

With Closest challenger Dani Pedrosa out of action due to a broken collorbone, Lorenzo's winning of the title ends a two-year victory streak for Rossi, who triumphed in todays race for the first time since he broke his leg.

Jorge Lorenzo MotoGP Champ 2010?

Following Valentino Rossi’s pace-setting form of Friday, Yamaha team-mate and Champion elect Jorge Lorenzo has registered Saturday morning’s best effort at Malaysia’s Sepang Circuit. Casey Stoner moves up to second for Ducati as Rossi completes the top three, followed by Dovizioso’s Honda and Simoncelli’s Gresini.

With Dani Pedrosa out of action after breaking his collarbone at Motegi, Lorenzo needs only a ninth place in Sunday’s race to seal the title – something he should be more than capable of.

Lorenzo looks like the
MotoGP champion of 2010?

CB750 vs. CR750 ???

A friend of mine asked me why I put CB and CR750 in the headline of a previous thread [http://clingonforlife.blogspot.com/2010/09/cbcr750-cafe-racer-project-started.html].

The reason is actually very simple. The CB750s used for racing in the 1970’s was called CR750, and there were a number of mechanical differences between the CB & CR750.

The most striking design different between the CB & CR model is the longer and narrower fuel tank, and race tail on the CR750. Engine, brakes, exhaust and suspension looks the same, but it is not! The CR750 is a totally different beast!

[Picture: CR750 in front, CB750 in the background]

Injured Dani Pedrosa out of Malaysia GP

Dani Pedrosa will miss the Malaysian MotoGp on Sunday, after he broke his collarbone four places in last weeks practice for the Japanese Grand Prix.

Pedrosa was the only rider who could have challenged the Fiat Yamaha rider Joergen Lorenzo and prevented him from winning the title. Pedrosa's abcence means champion leader Lorenzo will only have to finish in the top 10 at Sepang, in order to be the 2010 champion.

Official Admission of Guilt to Ian Barry [Falcon Motorcycles]

When I first heard of the story my first intention was not to post anything about the Teutuls... They make so many stupid fuckups on end that it is not worth wasting time on.

Everyone who check motorcycle blogs know that Paul T. Jr used a picture of Ian Barry’s beautiful motorcycle “The Falcon” for a commercial t-shirt, and broke every copyright low in the process. Long story short...

The reason why I am posting the follow-up is because it is so un-Teutul to do something as grownup as to give an apology?

The outcome of this circumstances? I let you be the judge....

CB750 Freaks

Ok ok ok...

I see myself as a CB750 nerdy freak, but this is over the F*****cking top!!!

What is this? The sadomasochist club on a motorcycle picnic ???

Well fair enough.... Safty first! It is important to wear your leather when riding a motorcycle right?

Heat Wrap On The Manifold

Besides a thin layer of rust and a few dents here and there, the exhaust manifold was in good shape. No reason to waste money and buy a new one...

After a lot of tedious effort with the extremely narrow pipes the end result came out fine.

The work will be finished on Saturday...

Cool CB750 out of Oregon USA

This CB750 café racer project is on of the cleanest looking bikes I have seen in a long time! I really like this bike.

If you go into the details it is very stock, but the ballance between lines, paint and original parts work very well...

The small details like the red painted rim-lines, lowered tacho and speedometer, plus red sparkplug wires makes it so bloody cool.

Unfortunattely I do not know who build it, but I know it was build in Oregon USA. If anyone can give more info please contact me...
